Is hands-on training required?

After completing the required online course, your employer will conduct hands-on training with the crane or hoist equipment you will be using. We provide the required Practical Evaluation Checklist, which your employer will complete and sign to validate your license.

This process applies whether you are obtaining your certification for the first time or renewing your license.

Canada Only: The evaluator will have a valid “train the trainer” certificate. This is not required in the United States.

Should I take the certification now if I'm looking for a job?

Yes, that way you can confidently state that you’ve already earned your certification. Once you secure the new job, your employer will assess your knowledge of the crane or hoist equipment and safety procedures and sign the back of your certification to validate it.

Is this OSHA, ANSI/ASME and CSA overhead crane license valid in my state or province/territory?

Yes – the license you receive from us is valid in all 50 states and all Canadian provinces and territories.

Should I take the Overhead Crane Certification or Recertification Course?

The Overhead Crane Certification course is meant for those who have never received a certification before, even if you are experienced.

The Overhead Crane Recertification is meant for those who have expired certifications or those who have been instructed to retake the course.

When will I receive my certification?

What if my current certification has expired or is about to pass the expiration date?

If your certification has expired or is about to pass the expiration date, you will be required to complete a renewal course.

To renew your expired Overhead Crane certification card for another 3 years, select the recertification course. Once you complete the course, your new card can be downloaded and printed immediately with your new expiration date.

How long is the license valid for?

OSHA, ANSI, and CSA require overhead crane and hoist certification renewal every three years. The expiration date on your license will be exactly two years from the date you completed your previous training.
