Fall Protection Certification FAQ

The Fall Protection Training and Certification from Liftoff Certifications teaches workers the skills to prevent falls and reduce the risk of injury while working at heights.

The course covers all required topics, such as identifying fall hazards, understanding different types of fall protection systems (like harnesses, guardrails, and safety nets), and learning how to properly use, inspect, and maintain equipment. The training is applicable to both general and construction industries.

The training also ensures compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and CSA safety standards, which legally requires fall protection for workers exposed to height-related risks. You will also learn rescue procedures and emergency response strategies in case of accidents. By completing this training, workers are better prepared to stay safe on the job, giving both employees and employers the confidence to meet safety regulations and minimize workplace accidents.

Once you complete the training, you will have immediate access to your license, which is required to work from heights.

Note for Canada: Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador have additional requirements when it comes to working from heights that require approved, in-person training. The Liftoff Certifications Fall Protection training does not apply to those separate requirements, which are:

  • Newfoundland & Labrador: Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, section 139 – Approved training is only in-person and a minimum of 8 hours of theory training and 8 hours of practical training, specifically for fall prevention.
After completing the required online course, your employer will conduct hands-on training with the fall protection equipment you’ll be using. We provide the required Practical Evaluation Checklist, which your employer will complete and sign to validate your license.

This process applies whether you are obtaining your certification for the first time or renewing your license.
