Ontario: O. Reg. 213/91 – “Working at Heights” training is completed only in-person and is often in addition to this Fall Protection training you are taking now, which can be used for non-construction and non-roof work.
Newfoundland & Labrador: Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, section 139 – Approved training is only in-person and a minimum of 8 hours of theory training and 8 hours of practical training, specifically for fall prevention.

Is hands-on training required?

After completing the required online course, your employer will conduct hands-on training with the fall protection equipment you’ll be using. We provide the required Practical Evaluation Checklist, which your employer will complete and sign to validate your license.

This process applies whether you are obtaining your certification for the first time or renewing your license.

Should I take the certification now if I'm looking for a job?

Yes, that way you can confidently state that you’ve already earned your certification. Once you secure the new job, your employer will assess your knowledge of the fall protection equipment and safety procedures and sign the back of your certification to validate it.

Is this OSHA, ANSI and CSA Fall Protection Certification valid in my state or province/territory?

Yes – the license you receive from us is valid in all 50 states and all Canadian provinces and territories, with the only exception being Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador, which have additional requirements when it comes to working from heights that require approved, in-person training.

In Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador, the Liftoff Certifications Fall Protection training does not apply to those separate requirements, which are:

Should I take the Fall Protection Certification or Recertification Course?

The Fall Protection Certification course is meant for those who have never received a certification before, even if you are experienced.

The Fall Protection Recertification is meant for those who have expired certifications or those who have been instructed to retake the course.

When will I receive my certification?

What if my current certification has expired or is about to pass the expiration date?

If your certification has expired or is about to pass the expiration date, you will be required to complete a renewal course.

To renew your expired Fall Protection certification card for another 2 years, select the recertification course. Once you complete the course, your new card can be downloaded and printed immediately with your new expiration date.

How long is the license valid for?

OSHA, ANSI, and CSA require fall protection certification renewal every two years. The expiration date on your license will be exactly two years from the date you completed your previous training.
